Numerical weather prediction models can be a very important tool when forecasting in the future. Now you can understand and interpret this model data with our new course on Weather Academy, Interpreting Model Data! This course will give a basic introduction to model data and discuss three main types of forecast models, as well as what they are generally used for when forecasting. This course is presented by meteorologist Joseph Patton, who received his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology in 2015 from the University of Oklahoma and his Master of Science in Meteorology in 2017 from Florida State University. Mr. Patton previously worked for the National Weather Service in Goodland, Kansas from 2018 to 2020, and is now a research scientist studying lightning at the University of Maryland – College Park. Take the course by optionally signing up/logging in, and then use the course content guide below to start learning!
